FROM THE GARAGE
Designed and manufactured in Vancouver BC, the AC1 was purpose-built to handle the infamous North Shore.
What began as late nights in a garage, designing and welding the first prototypes, has grown into a small but focused manufacturing operation built around the same core principles.
Designing and building the AC1 in-house allows us to stay closely connected to how and where the bike is ridden. Every decision from geometry and kinematics to materials and manufacturing methods is informed by real trails, real riders, and constant iteration. The AC1 exists because we believe mountain bikes should be durable, serviceable, and capable of being pushed hard, day after day, in demanding terrain.
At its core, Archibald Cycles is about building bikes with intention, learning from the process, and refining the details over time without losing sight of where it all started.
MEET THE
ARCHIBALD CREW
CEO & Lead Engineer
Alex Troughton
Alex founded Archibald Cycles in 2019, starting with prototype builds in his garage and many late nights refining ideas into something rideable. With experience designing bike components including time at Blackspire he now leads product development and engineering at Archibald Cycles.
He now oversees kinematics, geometry, manufacturing methods, and long-term product strategy. From early prototypes to current production bikes, he has spent countless hours thinking through the details often long after the shop lights are off.
Anton Zelenin
Production Manager
Anton and Alex met through the Motorsports Club at BCIT, and Anton has been riding and testing the AC1 since the early development days. After several years working at UBC’s particle accelerator, he returned to bikes and became a full-time part of Archibald Cycles as the company grew into its current shop and production rhythm trading particle physics for production schedules.
As Archibald Cycles’ first full-time team member, Anton plays a central role in day-to-day operations, overseeing workflow and helping guide each frame from raw material to a finished bike.
Cody Jackson
Fabricator
Cody is a Red Seal fabricator who makes sure every tube fits exactly as intended and every stainless finish looks just right. His skill and attention to detail play a major role in why the frames line up cleanly, ride quietly, and look the way they do.
He has strong opinions about tolerances and he’s usually right.
Bella Sanchez
Creative Director
Bella’s been shaping Archibald Cycles since day one - building the brand’s look, voice, and attitude as it grew from rough prototypes to bikes people can’t stop talking about. She’s also the one reminding the team that there’s more to building great bikes than just sticking metal together.
Dylan Zander
Engineering Intern & Shredder
Dylan is wrapping up his Mechanical Engineering degree at UBC and supports the team across assembly, design, and development projects.
If Dylan invites you for a ride in Whistler, there’s a strong chance the entire day will be spent lapping Dirt Merchant.
Jimmy Pham
Welder/Fabricator
Jimmy has been involved with Archibald Cycles since the very beginning. In the early days, he and Alex spent many late nights in the garage turning early concepts into real frames and helping establish the welding procedure still used today.
With a background in industrial stainless steel fabrication, Jimmy is now focused on welding and fabrication, laying down clean, consistent beads on every frame that rolls out the door.
OUR RIDERS
Our sponsored riders are the crew out there riding our bikes the way they’re meant to be ridden.
We’re genuinely stoked to support this group and have them riding with us. Whether it’s race day, all-day mountain missions, or quick laps after work, they bring great energy and a wide range of riding styles to every ride. Their feedback, commitment, and passion play a real role in shaping what we build, and we’re proud to have them representing Archibald Cycles on the trail
Ollie Lowthorpe
Squamish, BC
Ollie has a knack for finding the very edge of traction in almost any terrain. His XC background gives him an intuitive sense of grip and efficiency — but it’s his instinct to push limits that really sets him apart. He’s made the AC1 do things we honestly didn’t think were possible.
He’s always up for testing new ideas, components, and setups in places most of us wouldn’t dare to ride - and his feedback keeps pushing the AC1 forward.
Vancouver, BC
Dale Stone
One of mountain biking’s most influential voices, Dale brings deep engineering experience and sharp analysis to everything he rides. He’s known for honest feedback and for backing it up with creative, committed riding.
That mix of technical insight and real-world experience makes his perspective invaluable, helping ensure our bikes hold up both on the trail and on the workbench.
Pemberton, BC
Taiki Auger
Taiki has put thousands of bike park laps on his AC1 and continues to ride it like a wrecking ball. From smashing berms to pushing hard, repetitive impacts day after day, he puts the bike through the kind of punishment few riders ever will.
That level of use makes his feedback especially valuable. If something isn’t up to the task, Taiki finds it and if it survives his riding, it’s earned its place on the AC1.
Willem Zwiers
Squamish, BC
Willem was one of Archibald Cycles’ first customers — and the rider behind the first downhill-spec AC1. With years of downhill racing under his belt, he understands how bikes behave at speed, under load, and in real race conditions.
He also helped develop the AC1’s 29-inch rear-end setup, refining how it performs in fast, demanding terrain. His feedback has been instrumental in shaping the AC1’s downhill performance, durability, and overall ride characteristics.
