ShockMXMX+29

Rear wheel travel in mm. Shock sizes are eye to eye x stroke. Suggested type: Trail up to 164 mm, Enduro 165 to 188 mm, DH over 188 mm. Filled tags mark our standard shock for each type: Trail 210 x 50; Enduro 230 x 57.5 on MX, 210 x 55 on MX+ and 29; DH 250 x 70 (225 x 70 below S3). Each shock length uses its own set of shock plates, and swapping them takes 4 bolts. 250 length shocks fit frames S3 and larger; smaller frames use the 225 length shock with the same stroke.

Upgrades for existing AC1s

Three updates we're rolling out to bikes already on the trail.

Side platesFree

Stainless plates welded on near the head tube. They nearly double the lifespan of the frame.

The work takes 1 to 2 days at the shop. Out-of-town owners can ship the frame in.

Solid lower rocker axleFree

Some early batches shipped with a hollow lower rocker axle. It's fine in most cases, but we'll send you a solid one for free.

Not sure which you have? Email us your name and we'll check your build records.

LT Link

The long travel rocker link gets more rear travel from the same shock. See Travel and shock options above for every shock size.

It uses different lower rocker bearings, listed under Bearings.

*When tightening the gearbox mounting bolts, tighten the side without sliding bushings first. This locates the gearbox in the frame and sets the reference for chainline.

Fastener torque for the rear triangle and seatstay pivots.

*When tightening the seatstay pivot bolts, hold the 4 mm side stationary and tighten to spec from the 6 mm side (non-drive side). This prevents the 4 mm bolt from stripping.

**Bolt head is accessible from the non-drive side of the bike.

Pinion battery and wiring

How the Smart Shift battery mounts and where the cables run.

  1. The battery mounts just above the gearbox on two brackets.
  2. The brackets also route the wiring into the downtube, through a large port with a rubber cover.
  3. Inside the downtube the cables run in a silicone sleeve.
  4. The shifter cable exits near the head tube.

Every Smart Shift build comes with the brackets, port cover, sleeve and photo instructions.
